So, this... is this?
This work was made in situ during my two-week residency at Extrapool, a space that started as a squatted building in the 1980s and was legalised in the 1990s. At that time, the ground floor had not yet been extended to its current layout, and a Riso workshop was established in the basement, which later moved to a nearby building.
I used Risograph to create repetitive, continuous surfaces to emphasise the parallel layers of time embedded in the space. The bricks of the previous outside wall were multiplied to fill the now-inside space. Piles of old, yellowing and mouldy paper left in the basement were 'lifted up' and covered by layers of paper pulp. The Paper pulp continued as a visual cue, wrapping the staircase railing visible through the glass wall.

white shredded pieces
tears of the sky
lost language
so, this…
awakening in slumber
benighted
befall
that blue seat where I see
the dance in snow
never happened
is this
?
