Ants Trilogy: Magic Dome

2025
installation

At De Koepel, two domes coexisted. The architectural dome held the slow, heavy duration of the former prison. Its material traces lingered as an unease between past confinement and contemporary forms of softer control.

Beneath it, another dome was taking shape. Porous, decentralised and constantly reconfigured, it grew through movements, pauses and collective decisions happening at the scale of six feet. What appeared momentary accumulated into an alternative structure for long-term resilience.

Around the two domes, people came to make, learn and gather. The inherited histories dozed off while other forms of living were quietly rehearsed.

A site-specific work made for De Koepel, Haarlem (NL), during the Van Stigt-ing Residency and shown in the duo exhibition What the Eye Cannot Hold.
